WL-S inducts new NHS members

West Liberty-Salem High School proudly honored its newest members of the National Honor Society during the “Rise Above the Rest” induction ceremony Monday, Dec. 8. The ceremony opened with a formal procession, followed by introductions from Master of Ceremonies Levi Miller. 

NHS Co-Presidents Geneva Estep and Emery Longaberger welcomed families, staff, and guests, sharing reflections on the value of the organization and the responsibility its members carry. 

Students representing each of the four core values then spoke about their meaning and importance:

  • Leadership – Abbie Thoman
  • Scholarship – Naomi Cole
  • Service – Brock Burgel
  • Character – Alexis Hausler

New members were formally introduced by Ava Astorino, followed by the presentation of gold cords by Caleb Larson and certificates by Dylan King. 

New inductees include: seniors Kaylee Blair, Victoria Douthwaite, Addyson Mattox, Ava Poppe, Kaylee Powell and Olivia Reichardt; and juniors Delilah Breon, Haley Brockmeier, Patrick Brooks, Alivia Campbell, Zoe Carter, Audrianna Evilsizor, Savannah Gluckle, Braden Hershberger, Josiah Johnson, Sophia Landon, Aui Lehman, Conner Leichty, Emma Liggett, Claire Ling, Xzavior Nicholl, Isabelle Sarver, Noah Sarver, Tucker Searles, Mariska Smith, Benjamin Wall and Sarah Windle. 

Kamden Hissong led the reading of the National Honor Society Pledge. Principal Dr. Greg Johnson closed the ceremony with remarks recognizing the dedication and achievements of this outstanding group of students.
