Russells Point man indicted on more than a dozen sex-related charges

GrandJuryA Logan County grand jury has handed up indictments against two dozen defendants, including a slew of sex-related charges against a Russells Point man.

Mitchell A. Schaefer, 41, was charged with eight counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, fifth-degree felonies; and pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor or impaired person, fourth-degree felonies.

Anthony Johnson, 38, of Bellefontaine: Having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony; trafficking in cocaine, a third-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a third-degree felony; trafficking marijuana, a fourth-degree felony; carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony; and improperly handling a firearm, a fourth-degree felony.

Anna Morris, 30, of Bellefontaine: Felonious assault, a second-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a third-degree felony; trafficking in cocaine, a third-degree felony; trafficking in marijuana, a fourth-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs and trafficking in cocaine, fifth-degree felonies.

Johnson and Morris were arrested April 23 by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responding to a report of a female being threatened with a gun. Morris and Johnson were found sitting inside an idling vehicle in the parking lot of a Speedway gas station at 600 E. Sandusky Ave.

Police were familiar with Johnson and have encountered him and his Chevrolet SUV in the past. They observed in plain view within the vehicle rolled up paper bags and suspected drug activity. K9 Officer Boodik was dispatched to the scene to conduct an open air sniff of the vehicle, and indicated the presence of narcotics inside the SUV.

Officers searched the vehicle and found 696 grams of marijuana in edible and raw form, as well as individually wrapped for potential sale. A digital scale and suspected cocaine was also located in the vehicle. A handgun was found tucked between the driver’s seat and center console.

Others named in indictments were:

David Marlow, 29, at-large: aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

Gene Schloss, 59, of Port Jefferson: Improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

Brandon Krouse, 29, of Bellefontaine: Gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.

James Davie, 29, of Bellefontaine: Two counts of endangering children, second- and third-degree felonies, respectively; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Shanna Thomas, 33, of Bellefontaine: Theft, a fifth-degree felony;

Aaron Bensman, 49, of Bellefontaine: Five counts of aggravated possession of drugs, second-degree felonies;

Brandon Whitt, 36, of Sidney, Failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a first-degree misdemeanor; tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony;

Corbin Royston, 45, of Olivet, Mich.: Aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

Patricia Tippie, 29, of Lima, Aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Logan Fischer, 33, of Lakeview: Improperly discharging a firearm in a school zone, a second-degree felony; discharging a firearm on prohibited premises, a third-degree felony; and inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Jeffery Sahnd, 42, of New Carlisle: Strangulation, a second-degree felony.

Heather Hone, 49, of Zanesfield: Two counts of theft from a person in a protected class, third- and fourth-degree felonies, respectively.

Martin Hassel, 39, Bellefontaine: Tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony; and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, a fifth-degree felony.

Shila Hickcox, 32, of Springfield: Two counts of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, third-degree felonies; possession of Fentanyl, a fifth-degree felony; theft, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony.

Brian Stoops, 55, of South Vienna, Theft, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony.

James Landriscina, 35, at-large: Two counts of identity theft, fifth-degree felonies.

Johnathon Chilcoat, 32, of Quincy, Mich.: Failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.

Jacklyn Miller, 41, of Lakeview: Seven counts of misuse of credit cards, first-degree misdemeanors; petty theft, a first-degree misdemeanor; and theft, a fifth-degree felony.

Jarrod King, 28, of Sidney: Improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Shawn Stevens, 26, of Belle Center: Failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony.

Tiffany Duncan, 32, of Belle Center: Failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony.
