Saturday, July 1, the Rushsylvania Lions Club held its highly anticipated Independence Day Celebration, attracting a small but enthusiastic crowd that braved the light rain. The event kicked off with the Lions Club parade at noon, capturing the spirit of patriotism as it made its way through the village streets.

Despite the raindrops, the spectators remained in high spirits, cheering and applauding as the procession passed by. Along the route, some generous entries even tossed candy to the delight of children, who eagerly scrambled to gather as much as they could.

Following the parade, the Rushsylvania Lions Club continued the festivities with their annual chicken barbecue dinner at the park shelter house. Even with a few raindrops and gusty winds, the good-sized crowd lined up eagerly, undeterred by the weather, for a delicious meal and an opportunity to socialize with fellow community members. The chicken dinners proved to be a hit, quickly selling out.
