Rodney Joe Horsley, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 11:38 p.m., on Monday, March 20, 2023, in Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born on June 26, 1939, in Pike County, Ohio, the son of the late Delbert Horsley and Mable (Osborne) Reed.
On March 22, 1958, he married Mary Louise (Horne) Horsley, and she preceded him in death in 1993. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Beatie, and two brothers, Ernest Horsley and Carl Horsley.
He is survived by six children: Joyce (Jan) Horsley of Bellefontaine, David (Kari) Horsley of Urbana, Brenda Rogan of Bellefontaine, Christine Horsley of Bellefontaine, Rodney Horsley of Bellefontaine, and Teresa Mathers of Bellefontaine, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, four sisters: Elva Karns, Margaret Truesdale, Kitty Stanley, Judy Cauley one brother, Larry Reed, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rodney worked in road construction most of his career. He enjoyed going to auctions, singing karaoke and going camping. He also liked to relax and sit outdoor on his deck.
Pastor Matthew Sandlin will officiate a funeral service at 12Noon on Friday, March 24, 2023, in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery.
