Riverside bounces Northridge for 1st win

Riverside’s baseball team earned its first win of the season Thursday, beating visiting Northridge 11-1 in five innings.

The Pirates are now 1-2 on the season.

Warren Shockey was the winning pitcher. He gave up one run while on four hits while striking out 10.

Sam King led the Pirates at the plate, going 4-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Kaleb Schindewolf went 2-3 with three RBI, Zander Crouch had two doubles and Andrew Knight was 2-3 with an RBI.

The Pirates are back in action today at Bradford.

Lakers fall to Braves

Indian Lake dropped a 5-1 decision to visiting Springfield Shawnee in a Central Buckeye Conference opener Thursday.

The Lakers are now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the CBC. The Braves are 2-2, 1-0.
Shawnee scored twice in the second inning and added three runs in the sixth.

The Lakers scored their lone run in the seventh.

Indian Lake was limited to three hits, with Camdon Tuttle recorded two of them.
The Lakers are back in action today at Sidney.

Tigers slip to Marysville

West Liberty-Salem’s baseball team saw host Marysville rally for a 3-2 in in a non-league game Thursday.

The Tigers are now 1-1 on the season.

The score was tied 1-1 after two innings. The Tigers took a 2-1 lead with a run in the top of the sixth, but the Monarchs plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.

Austin Olejniczak went 2-4 to lead the WL-S offense.

Jake Evans scattered six hits and allowed three runs on the mound for the Tigers.
