A Lakeview man has been charged with felonious assault and domestic violence following an incident that required his father to go to a Columbus hospital.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence on Leoline Drive at about 5:16 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, for a reported domestic disturbance. The caller told dispatchers that his son, Dallas Red, 35, had struck him in the face during an altercation.
When deputies arrived, they found Dallas outside the home. Deputies reported that his statements were inconsistent and focused on unrelated subjects, prompting concerns about his mental health. He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for evaluation.
Later that morning, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrested Red for disorderly conduct as a result of an incident at the hospital.
Red’s father was treated at MRH before being transferred to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus for further care. Deputies report he sustained a broken jaw and lost teeth as a result of the assault.
Following consultation with the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was charged with felonious assault and felony domestic violence. Deputies noted he has a prior assault conviction, which enhanced the domestic violence charge.
On Aug. 22, deputies arrested Red for criminal trespassing at a Lakeview business, as previously reported in the Examiner.
The incident remains under investigation.
