Levi Campbell, 34, of West Liberty, was flown by medical helicopter Sunday, June 30, to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries after he lost control of his vehicle and traveled into the opposite lane of travel along U.S. Route 68, deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.

Deputies said Campbell was operating a southbound 2016 Saturn passenger car on U.S. 68 near Township Road 190 in Liberty Township about 2:40 p.m. when he reportedly lost control, traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected and re-entered the roadway. He then crossed over the center line into the path of a northbound 2019 Acura TLX operated by Sean Core, 39, of West Liberty.

The vehicle Campbell was driving traveled off the left side of the road and into a tree. The Core vehicle came to a stop on the roadway. Neither Core nor a 5-year-old passenger were injured.

Preliminary reports indicate alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. Deputies are still investigating.

Macochee EMS and Bellefontaine Fire and EMS also responded to the scene.
