A man struck by a vehicle after falling from his scooter into the roadway was listed in critical condition following the incident that occurred just before 1 p.m. Monday, April 14, near the intersection of north Main Street and Williams Avenue.

Hubert Wells of Bellefontaine was transported by MedFlight helicopter following the incident and was listed in critical condition, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.

Police and EMS responded on a report of a pedestrian on a bicycle that was struck by a car and was not moving. Upon arrival, officers found Wells lying in the northbound lane of north Main Street, with Bellefontaine Fire Department medics already attending to him.

A witness told officers he had been riding behind Wells on an electric scooter when Wells began weaving in the lane before losing control and falling into the roadway. Moments later, Wells was struck by a vehicle.
