A Lakeview man was arrested and charged with arson related to a suspicious fire at a vacant residence in the village Saturday evening, April 26, officers of the Washgington Township Police Department report.

As a result of the investigation, Jason Davis, 47, of Lakeview, was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail, and he may face additional charges.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to 290 N. Main St., Lakeview, in reference to a structure fire.

Upon arrival, officers observed smoke and flames coming from a vacant residence. Firefights arrived on scene and contained the fire to the rear of the residence. Officers and firefighters quickly determined the fire to be suspicious.

Due to the unnecessary risk created to firefighters, officers have requested the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office review the case and consider aggravated arson and breaking and entering charges for the defendant.

Officers were assisted at the scene by the Lakeview Fire Department, Indian Joint Fire District, Indian Lake EMS and the State Fire Marshals Office investigators.
