A teenage boy who attacked one family member and threatened to kill others was arrested Sunday afternoon, June 22 at the West Mansfield Conservation Club at 701 S. Main St. in the village.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 1:30 p.m. to a report of a juvenile who had threatened family members and been involved in an altercation at the club.

The teen told deputies he had punched a tree because he was angry about “ the things going on in the world today,” when asked about cuts they observed on his right knuckles.

The boy’s father said the family, who reside outside of Logan County, had come to the club to go fishing and his 15-year-old son became irate and threatened to kill his dad when asked to stop ripping up a Bible. The boy then punched his father on the left side with a closed fist, before the dad took the boy to the ground to gain control and prevent him from harming other family members.

The teen threatened to take a folding pocket knife from a fishing kit to slit his mother’s throat, according to reports. He also picked up sticks and a brick and threatened to kill other family members.

Family members said the boy has a history mental health issues, making threats and aggressive behavior.

The suspect was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville, where he was lodged without further incident.
