Two men were arrested on charges including disorderly conduct following a report of a domestic dispute involving a firearm investigated Friday, March 7, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Peter Atraszkiewicz, 43, of Botkins, was arrested on charges of using weapons while intoxicated and disorderly conduct. Kevin Itzep Guox, 32, of Bellefontaine, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. Both were lodged at the Logan County Jail.

Officers responded at approximately 1:28 a.m. to an apartment at 1313 Carlisle St. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. While en route, dispatch advised that one of the individuals involved had a firearm and had handed it to another person.

Upon arrival, officers observed Atraszkiewicz and Guox engaged in a verbal altercation in the yard. Both men had mud on their clothing, indicating they had been in a physical altercation.

Inside the residence, officers located a Taurus G3c 9×19 handgun with a magazine containing nine rounds. Witnesses reported that Atraszkiewicz and Guox had been drinking tequila before an argument escalated into a physical altercation inside the home. The dispute then continued outside, where officers made contact with the individuals involved.

Both Atraszkiewicz and Guox displayed signs of intoxication, including unsteady balance, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. They reportedly had been in a physical altercation prior to officers’ arrival.

During a search of Atraszkiewicz, officers recovered a soft shell firearm holster in his back pocket.

The investigation determined that Guox had handed off the firearm before the altercation, and Atraszkiewicz later did the same. Statements were collected as part of the report.

Both men were taken into custody without further incident.
