The Indian Lake Board of Education learned about a new scholarship opportunity exclusive to the district at their Monday evening meeting, Nov. 24, and made plans to continue in an Ohio Facilities Construction Commission program.
Members approved a resolution for the district to extend participation in the OFFC’s Expedited Local Partnership Program.
Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood explained how this program will assist the district with planning for the future.
“Really what this is just a continuation of the master planning process and it goes all the way back to the building of the elementary school and bringing all three buildings onto one campus here at Indian Lake.
“This will allow us to engage in an enrollment projection study through the State of Ohio to give us a footprint of where we’re headed, so that we can make building decisions down the road.”
In addition, Lois Stoll from the Logan County Education Foundation presented information pertaining to the newly-created Indian Lake Legacy Scholarship.
She explained that many families and individuals are willing to help fund scholarships, but many lack the large sum needed to initiate a scholarship fund on their own.
The Indian Lake Legacy Scholarship sets up a scholarship fund that can accept any size donation to go toward the scholarship. Gifts can be named or anonymous.

Members also accepted a $1,689 grant from the Mary Rutan Foundation and eight grants from the Logan County Education Foundation totaling $5,070.
Each school building received a LCEF grant and several teachers earned money to put toward special projects.
Indian Lake Elementary School received a grant of $1,300 for games and activities to use indoors this winter weather season.
Indian Lake Middle School was awarded $1,050 for the Zones of Trust Behavioral Leadership initiative and Indian Lake High School got $1,050 for PBIS activities.
In addition, LCEF grant-funded special projects include:
