Two illegal immigrants face deportation following a traffic stop initiated Saturday, March 8, by officers of the Washington Township Police Department in the area of U.S. Route 33 near Lincoln Boulevard.
The driver, Dago Lenin Isaguirre-Quinonez of Honduras, and passenger, Michael Jose Hernandez-Fuentes of Nicaragua, were stopped for a turn signal and equipment violation. Upon making contact, officers determined that neither man possessed legal documentation for entry into the United States.
Isaguirre-Quinonez provided a Honduras passport that had not been stamped for U.S. entry. Hernandez-Fuentes presented a paper copy of a passport that also lacked entry authorization. Communication was difficult as neither individual spoke English.
Officers contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which confirmed both men were subject to immediate removal. ICE placed detainers on them, and both were taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail.
