Officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department report the arrest of Willy Bueno, 41, of Columbus at 1:42 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, in parking lot of Lowe’s, 2168 S. Main St.

BPD detectives were tipped that a van that was being driven by Bueno had stolen license plates. Once Bueno was located, stopped and questioned, he was unable to provide proof of ownership of the vehicle.

The license plates were reportedly stolen in Powell on Sept. 3, after which one of the former owners of the van started receiving hundreds of dollars in state toll fee violations, with officers noting that the van’s title had been “jumped” at least twice since the last titled owner sold it.

Bueno’s name was run through Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which revealed that he was in the country illegally and subject to deportation.

He was then attested and charged with receiving stolen property as well as being placed on an ICE hold before being lodged in the Logan County Jail.

Man lodged following downtown incidents

Kenneth J. Wilkinson Jr., 38, of rural DeGraff, was arrested by Monday, Sept. 8, at 10:53 a.m. after complaints were filed by two businesses in the downtown area, with one claiming that Wilkinson, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, had consumed an item on the premises and left the site without paying for the food.

On the first call, police determined that Wilkinson, while intoxicated, appeared to be no danger to himself or others, but were subsequently dispatched to Dollar Tree, 230 S. Main, after Wilkinson reportedly entered the store before lying on the floor, this before getting up on his hands and knees and leaving the business.

Having already spoken to Wilkinson and after getting his description, Wilkinson was located a few minutes later at Speedway, 329 S. Main St.

His speech was reportedly slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. Because of the multiple calls and Wilkinson’s obviously intoxicated state, officers arrested him, charging him with persistent disorderly conduct before lodging him in the Logan County Jail.
