Bellefontaine’s legendary big man Ray George is one of the finest basketball players to ever grace the hardwood in Logan County. The 6’4 center was a prolific scorer for the 1954 Western Buckeye League (WBL) champions.
George averaged 16 points as a sophomore, 21.4 points as a junior and a whopping 26.8 in his senior campaign. George was named to the Class A (At the time the big division) all-Ohio 2nd team. Media reports of the day noted that George was only a few votes shy of earning 1st team honors.
