Free tax prep assistance begins Feb. 1, offered by AARP Foundation

The AARP Foundation offers free tax preparation help to anyone needing tax preparation services.

The preparers are IRS-Certified volunteers who help understand your taxes are a little more complicated now.

The tax preparation takes place at the Logan County Friendly Senior, 934 S. Main St., Bellefontaine.

Starting today, Feb. 1, appointments can be made for Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, starting each day at 8:30 a.m. and with the last appointment at 3 p.m.
The last day the service will be offered is April 4.

The AARP Foundation notes this service is not available for returns involving: partnerships, income from rental properties, business, self-employment, hobby income, royalty income, tax on child investments, farm income or expenses, foreign or digital assets, complicated capital gains or losses (such as futures and options). There also may be other specific tax situations that are out of the scope for this service that are not listed.
