Area children had a chance to show off their fishing skills at Fox Island Saturday, July 19, when the Washington Township Police Department and Logan County Family & Children First Council teamed up together to offer a day of fishing. A total of 39 youths plus numerous parents and grandparents attended this event. Officers with the police department were on hand, providing encouragement and helping the kids take their catch off their lines. Logan County Family & Children First Council offered free fishing poles to the participants, as well as school supplies and local resource information from around the county. The Washington Township Police Officers Association provided food and door prizes. Other donations included gift cards from Gene’s Marine Bait and tackle and bait from The Depot. (SUBMITTED PHOTOS)
