A Fairborn man was arrested late Sunday, Oct. 6, after reportedly assaulting a woman and threatening to kill her during a domestic dispute at Indian Lake State Park.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded around 11:54 p.m. to the campground at 13156 State Route 235 North in Lakeview after dispatchers received a call from a woman who said she had been assaulted and was hiding in a men’s restroom with a black eye and bloody nose.

Deputies met the woman, who appeared frightened and distraught. She told deputies that Mark D. Humbert, 64, had punched her in the face and threatened her life during an argument inside a silver Chrysler 300 parked nearby.

The woman reported that Humbert became violent after accusing her of wanting to leave him. She said he struck her in the face with a cup, refused to let her out of the car, and threatened to harm her children if she tried to leave. She also alleged Humbert said he had a gun in the trunk and made statements about “finding a place to put her body,” even mentioning a pig farm that would “eat her body.”

Deputies confirmed Humbert had access to firearms, including a small handgun with a brown handle and two Glock handguns, according to reports. The woman said she feared he was going to kill her and her children.

Deputies photographed the woman’s injuries, which included bruising under her right eye, swelling on her leg, and redness on her arm. She was taken to a safe location for the night.

Humbert was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail on first-degree misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and aggravated menacing.

Lakeview woman jailed after domestic dispute leaves man injured, deputy bitten

ASHLEY MILLER

A Lakeview woman was arrested Monday night, Oct. 6, following a violent domestic incident in which a man was injured and a deputy was bitten by a small dog during the arrest.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 9:35 p.m. to an Elm St., Lakeview, residence after receiving a report that a man arrived at his home saying his live-in girlfriend, Ashley M. Miller, 32,  had struck him. The man had visible injuries, including a deep cut and bruising to his face, deputies said.

The victim told deputies the couple had argued after Miller accused him of talking to another person. He said Miller struck him in the face with a glass tumbler while he was sitting in a chair, causing bleeding and swelling. Blood was later found throughout the home, along with broken glass and a candle that the victim said was also thrown at him.

When deputies went to the couple’s residence to speak with Miller, she initially did not answer the door. Deputies later found her outside the house wearing a towel and holding a small white dog. When deputies told her she was under arrest, Miller refused to comply and the dog bit a deputy on the thumb, breaking the skin. She continued to resist before being taken into custody.

Miller was transported to the Logan County Jail, where she declined medical treatment. She told deputies the dispute stemmed from ongoing relationship problems and accused her boyfriend of previously bruising her. Deputies documented injuries on both individuals.

Miller was arrested for domestic violence and resisting arrest and was lodged in the jail.

Deputies said the suspect has a prior domestic violence conviction in Marysville Municipal Court from 2023.
