Jonathan Triplett, 32, of Bellefontaine, was arrested on a number of charges including reckless driving following a one-vehicle crash that occurred shortly after 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, near the intersection of Beech Avenue and north Main Street.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to that location on a report of a man who fled the scene of the crash. Witnesses reported that Triplett was driving erratically in a Honda Accord, running at least one stop sign and passing another motorist in a no-passing zone before crashing his vehicle.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot, but was quickly detained in the parking lot of Mary Rutan Hospital. He was charged with reckless operation, failure to control, driving without a license and leaving the scene of a crash and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Damage was disabling to the vehicle and it was towed from the scene.
