Thomas Soape, 57, of Russells Point, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop Thursday, Feb. 8.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were on patrol on Grand Avenue and Fairview Avenue about 8:20 p.m. and conducted a traffic stop with Soape’s vehicle for a turn signal violation.
Upon making contact with him, signs of impairment were observed. Soape admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the traffic stop. He was asked to submit to field sobriety tests and refused.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail. He reportedly refused to submit to a breath test.
Soape also was cited for turn signals required and was released to a sober driver.
