Downtown Bellefontaine Christmas Parade staged Friday evening

The Downtown Bellefontaine Hometown Christmas Parade and a variety of other family-friendly holiday activities are set for Friday, Dec. 5,   

The parade, sponsored by Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, will leave the fairgrounds at 6 p.m. and proceed to the downtown area, and then turns west onto Columbus Avenue, and ends at Detroit Street. 

Street closures planned for the festivities include: 

• East Columbus from Main Street to Madriver Street close at 1 p.m.; 

• All other streets will close at 2 p.m.: Main Street from Chillicothe Avenue to Watson Way; west Columbus Avenue from Main Street to Detroit Street; and Court Avenue and Opera Street. 

Prior to the parade, free activities take place from 4 to 6 p.m., all throughout downtown. Attendees can grab their event guide at the Santa Shed in front of the Logan County Courthouse.

Included during the festivities, participants can swing by City Sweets & Creamery for a free cookie and visit Lori Newman, Realtor – Legacy Property Group – Key Realty for light-up necklaces. 

Children can submit their letters to Santa in front of the courthouse with LoCo Kids Foundation and then grab a candy cane from Jessica Simmons with TCP Asset Management. 

The Hanger Boutique offers a snowflake craft, and Make Time also offers a Christmas craft. 

Hot chocolate is served at Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Danielle Knerr, and cookie decorating is offered at Relax Nail Bar & Salon. 

Attendees can visit the Christmas Highland Cows on Main Street outside of Citizens Federal Savings and Loan Association until 5:15 p.m.

Finally, they can stop by the First United Presbyterian Church for some tasty goodies, music, stories; and head to The Photo Booth after the parade to see Santa and Mrs. Claus and capture the memory and magic of the night.  

Food Alley will be set up for the event, sponsored by Herb N’ Stones, on east Columbus Avenue. Food trucks on site include: The Flying Pepper Food Truck, Freyhof’s Funnel Cakes, R Smokehouse LLC, Where There’s Smoke, Hall’s Country Kettle Corn LLC, G’s Concessions, The Pit Stop Food Truck and Smokin Bandits.
