Cole A. Duncan, 26, of Cable, is facing two felony charges following a domestic incident at the Heritage Court Apartments Friday, Oct. 31, about 11:08 a.m.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report Duncan struck his girlfriend, who is 20-weeks pregnant, at her apartment, giving her a bloody nose.
Following the assault, the victim then got in her car to drive to the police department to file charges, when she reported that Duncan also got in the car and would not get out as she drove, continuing to verbally abuse her and reportedly grabbing the steering wheel at one point in an attempt to wreck the vehicle.
Once the victim and Duncan arrived at the BPD, Duncan was seen on the department’s exterior cameras verbally abusing the victim as she drove into the parking lot and entered the building, where police observed her bloody nose and blood on her clothing.
In her statement, the victim noted the abuse from Duncan has been ongoing, showing police bruises on both her arms and legs.
Duncan reportedly left the police department on foot as the victim entered the department, taking the vehicle’s keys out of the ignition prior to doing so.
The defendant was a found short time later on foot in the 300 block of Ludlow Road, at which time he was arrested for domestic violence and disrupting law/emergency personnel, both which are fourth-degree felonies, and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Traffic stop results in OVI arrest
Distracted driving and a cracked windshield led to a man being arrested for OVI following a traffic stop the city Saturday, Nov. 1 at 5:37 p.m.
Michael A. Marotti, 34, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was seen using his phone while driving the in downtown area, with police also noting that Marotti’s vehicle had a cracked windshield. When he was stopped by officers near the intersection of Park Street and Chillicothe Avenue, they noted alcohol on Marotti’s breath and a number of open beer cases in his car.
The defendant admitted to have been drinking before submitting to and failing field sobriety tests. He was then arrested and taken to the BPD, where he gave breath sample that registered a 0.291 BAC.
Marotti was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and released to a sober driver.
Hotel incident ends in arrest
Patrick A. Lambert, 65, at large, was arrested Saturday. Nov. 1 after he entered the Super 8 Motel, 1117 N. Main St., was asked to leave and did so before returning to the property at 11:14 p.m. and then refusing to leave.
Police were notified by the staff, who arrived at the scene and arrested Lambert on the charge of criminal trespassing, taking him to the Logan County Jail without further incident.
• Police also report that Michaela I. Ritter, 29, of rural Bellefontaine was issued a summons for theft after she allegedly “skip scanned” $115 worth of items at Walmart, 2281 U.S. Route 68 S. about 4:22 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2.
