Columbus man indicted following multi-agency drug interdiction effort

A Columbus man, who was arrested Nov. 24 as part of a multi-agency drug interdiction effort, faces a criminal enterprise charge, along with several drug charges.

Tyrone L. Jackson, 50, of Columbus, was one of few people named in indictments handed up Tuesday, Dec. 9, by a Logan County grand jury.

He is charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony; trafficking in cocaine, a first-degree felony; trafficking in cocaine, a second-degree felony; illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a second-degree felony; receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony; and having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony.

Bellefontaine Police Department’s K9 Unit initiated a traffic stop just before 10 a.m. in the city, knowing the suspect was wanted on felony drug warrant.

City police detectives worked with detectives from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area over a lengthy period to develop the case.

During the traffic stop, police dog Pyro gave positive alert to the presence of narcotics in the pickup truck. More than an ounce of crack cocaine and a digital scale were found inside the vehicle.

After arresting Jackson, local investigators and the K9 Unit traveled to Columbus to meet with HIDTA detectives. Three search warrants were obtained and executed on residents linked to Jackson.

Items and equipment consistent with drug trafficking and drug production were seized along with cash, drug paraphernalia and three firearms, one of which was confirmed as stolen.

Other people charged via indictments are:

• De’Andre L. Tucker, 45, at large: illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony; tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; and three counts of trafficking in cocaine, fifth-degree felonies;

• Raijuan R. White, 20, of West Mansfield: robbery, a second-degree felony; trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, a fourth-degree felony; and misdemeanor counts of theft and menacing;

• Justin M. Bissell, 38, of Bellefontaine: theft, a fifth-degree felony;

• Richard T. Atchison, 46, of Bellefontaine: misuse of credit cards, a fourth-degree felony; and theft, a fifth-degree felony;

• Rayvon L. Holmen, 32, of Lima: failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony;

• Derek L. Brown, 35, of Bellefontaine: possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor endangering children; and

• Jade A. Irwin, 28, of Bellefontaine: possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor endangering children.
