Members of the Logan County Unified Drug Task Force report the arrest of two defendants Thursday, March 30, in separate traffic stops in the county:

• Stephanie L. Burk of Bellefontaine was charged with possession of crack cocaine related to a traffic stop about 9:40 a.m. in the area of U.S. Route 33 and County Road 57.

While speaking with officers, Burk reportedly appeared extremely nervous, her speech was very accelerated and she was making unusual movements. The defendant was not able to provide proof of insurance and was asked to exit the vehicle.

K9 Thor was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and two pipes used to smoke marijuana were located inside the vehicle.

Burk was then patted down and a bag of suspected crack cocaine was found to be concealed on her person. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.

• Derek R. Vance of Columbus was charged with possession of a schedule II narcotic during a traffic stop about 2 p.m. along State Route 117 near Duff’s Quarry.

During the stop, officers said the defendant appeared to be very nervous, his hands were shaking and he would not make eye contact with officers. He was asked to exit the vehicle and provided consent for officers to search the vehicle.

A black leather bag was located on the back seat of the vehicle. A search of the bag revealed a large amount of cash, a small baggie of marijuana and two baggies containing 20 oxycodone pills.

Vance was arrested and transported to the jail. The cash, drugs and two cell phones were seized as evidence by the Task Force.
