A city woman is facing two felony and two misdemeanor charges after officers were called to the vicinity of Henry Street and Orchard Avenue Sunday, June 29, on the report of a domestic dispute.

Police dispatch received a call about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, with the caller stating that Joplyn Jaymz Blosser, 22, of 508 N. Main St., had been screaming that she had been assaulted and was sitting on a porch of a house near the intersection of Henry and Orchard.

When officers arrived and questioned Blosser, she reported that two males known to her had “destroyed” her belongings that were in a garage where she was living and one of the men had punched her.

Officers noted that while Blosser displayed no signs of injury, she showed signs of intoxication – dilated pupils, mood swings, slurred speech – and notified EMS to come to the scene for an evaluation. Blosser at first agreed to be taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, but when police searched a backpack that Blosser said belonged to her, they found two empty hypodermic needles and notified Blosser that she would be issued a summons for possession of drug abuse instruments.

At this time, a relative of Blosser’s arrived at the scene and the situation escalated from there, officers noting that Blosser started to scream and became disorderly after being placed in the ambulance.

Despite several warnings, Blosser reportedly continued to verbally abuse the medics and officers, at which time she was placed under arrest and handcuffed.

The defendant reportedly fought officers, attempted to kick both medics and officers, spat on one of the officers and once she was placed in a cruiser, continued to verbally abuse the officers, and repeatedly struck her head against the widow of the cruiser. She remained combative in the cruiser and had to be placed in both a spit hood and restraint chair once she was booked at the Logan County Jail.

In addition to the possession of drugs abuse instruments and resisting arrest, both of which are misdemeanors, Blosser was also charged with assault on a peace officer and harassment by an inmate, both of which are felonies.

Blosser remained lodged in the jail as of Monday morning, June 30.

• Officers also reported the arrests of Kelly Lee Stover, 41, of 417 Garfield Ave, Friday, June 27, for violation of a civil protection order.

Also arrested Saturday, June 28, was Virgil Anthony Hinkle, 62, at large, on the charge of public intoxication.

Another individual, Michael Donavan Tavares Jr., 36, of Columbus was arrested by police on a domestic violence warrant issued in Franklin County following a traffic stop in the 800 block of east Sandusky Friday at about 8:20 a.m. No other charges against Tavares were noted in the report.
