City council tables marijuana and solar ordinances

Two issues that have generated a lot of attention in the city over the past year – the ban on  sales of adult-use, recreational marijuana, as well as the establishment of solar-generating facilities within the city limits – were slated to be brought up for first readings Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the regular meeting of the Bellefontaine City Council.

However, because of the absence of Councilperson Deb Baker, the first readings of both ordinances were tabled until a meeting when all seven members will be present.

This did not stop two residents from addressing the council on the marijuana ban during the public comments portion of the Tuesday’s meeting.

Howard Traul spoke in favor of the ban, while Sue Neer spoke against the ban and both are likely to be back to again express their views on the subject when the ordinance banning the sale of recreational pot is brought before council.

There were no ordinances up for a third reading at Tuesday’s meeting.
