A West Mansfield boy was taken to an area hospital around 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, after his bicycle struck a pickup truck.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report that six-year-old Jonah Blackburn was operating a bicycle southbound in an alley when he failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection with Highland Street in the village and struck an eastbound 2019 GMC Canyon.

Jonah sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported by Bokescreek EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital and later was transferred by CareFlight helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Dayton.

The pickup’s driver, Landon Watkins, 43, also of West Mansfield, did not report any injuries.

The bike and the truck each sustained minor damage.
