The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities were briefed at their September meeting on the annual LCBDD Foundation’s chicken barbecue coming up next month and a variety of other updates
The meal is served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at 1851 St. Rt. 47 West, Bellefontaine. Tickets can be purchased at the Logan County Board of DD or The Discovery Center.
Meals cost $13 each and include a half chicken, baked potato, applesauce and a roll. The proceeds from this fundraiser benefits individuals with developmental disabilities served in Logan County.
Jason Moyer, SSA Director, has met with Equal Access Transportation from Union County about helping to fill transportation gaps for individuals with developmental disabilities in Logan County.
Moyer has also met with Roots & Rise, which is an adolescent and family resource center. They can assist with mental health counseling, educational support for families, behavior support, as well as many other services. Roots & Rise accepts Medicaid and some private medical insurances.
Prior to the board meeting, Scott DeLong from Champaign Residential Services, Inc. (CRSI) provided the board with information about their services.
CRSI began services in 1976 as a not-for-profit agency that provides services including in-home waiver personal care services, remote monitoring, non-medical transportation, in-home accessibility modifications, respite and advocacy services for people with developmental disabilities.
They provide services in 23 counties including Logan County. They provide services to 600 people statewide and have 750 employees. They provide services for 32 people and employ 49 staff within Logan County.
In financial matters, Superintendent Krista Oldiges reviewed the financial report, noting that the Capital Fund will be increased due to transferring funds for the kitchen renovation project at The Discovery Center.
This renovation project allows all LCBDD staff to be housed in one building, which is a cost savings to the board. The project began on Sept. 9 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The Logan County Health District also completed an inspection of The Discovery Center, with no findings reported.
Preschool Director Lisa Sulich reported that the 2025-2026 preschool school year has started and there are currently 118 preschoolers enrolled.
Liz Rose, early intervention director, reported that the Early Intervention Department participated in the WIC Baby Shower and the National Night Out.
Board members approved a contract with Energy Professionals, LLC, as well as several policy updates.
A Mobi-Mat was installed last month at Old Field Beach through a partnership between the Board, United Way of Logan County and the Indian Lake State Park, as previously featured in the Examiner.
A Mobi-Mat is an assistive device which allows wheelchair users to access beaches, dirt trails, or other surfaces that may be challenging for people with limited mobility.
Staci Nichols, HR Director, reported that the vacant Service and Support Administrator position has been filled by Brandi Hamilton.

Members also approved cancelling the December board meeting. Board meetings are typically conducted the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 1973 State Route 47 West, Bellefontaine.
