Benjamin Logan High School art educator Jennifer Davis has been selected to be inducted into the Distinguished Fellows of the Ohio Art Education Association, district officials announced this week.

This is a prestigious position reserved for OAEA members who have made long-term, marked contributions to the association and to the advancement of art education at the regional, divisional, local, state and national levels.

Mrs. Davis is about to begin her 30th year of service at Benjamin Logan Schools. She has been a member of OAEA since 2007 and has garnered several accolades throughout her career, including being recognized as an Outstanding Art Educator by OAEA in 2018.

In 2019, she was named Middle School Educator of the Year in the NAEA Western Region by the National Art Education Association.

Her dedication to art education is evident through her consistent participation as a presenter at the annual juried OAEA conference and the NAEA conference.

Davis’ commitment to securing grants has significantly enhanced her students’ opportunities, enabling them to engage in a richer and more diverse art education experience.

Additionally, the inductee has taken extra efforts to showcase her students’ artwork through OAEA art shows and the state-sponsored Governor’s Show, ensuring that their talents are recognized and celebrated.

Davis will be formally inducted into the Distinguished Fellows at the OAEA Conference Awards Ceremony on the evening of Nov. 8 at the Kalahari Convention Center in Sandusky.

Benjamin Logan Schools Director of Administrative Services Sally Stolly expressed great pride in Davis’ accomplishment.

“Jennifer Davis exemplifies the excellence and dedication we strive for at Benjamin Logan High School. Her recognition as a 2024 OAEA Distinguished Fellow is a well-deserved honor that reflects her tireless work and the positive impact she has had on our students and the art education community.”

TeachArtsOhio resident artist Duarte Brown, who has collaborated with Davis in the classroom and on a variety of project, also shared about his colleague.

“Jennifer consistently goes above and beyond, putting 100 percent effort into both preparation and training. She is deeply attuned to the current educational and social-emotional needs of her students and peers. Encountering Jennifer inspires and compels others to bring their very best to every learning situation.”
