Bellefontaine track teams are champions of Logan County invitational

Bellefontaine’s boys and girls track and field teams claimed the top honors at the annual Logan County Invitational, which took place Tuesday with Benjamin Logan serving as the host.

Besides the Chieftains and Raiders, others in action were Indian Lake, Riverside and Calvary Christian.

Bellefontaine’s boys finished with 95 1/2 points. Ben Logan was second with 75 1/2, followed by Indian Lake (55), Calvary Christian (19) and Riverside (11).

Event winners on the track for the Chieftains were Caleb Sechrest in the 100 meter dash (11.37) and 300 meter hurdles (41.30), Hayden Maus in the 800m (2:07.63) and 1600m runs (4:31.50), Kaiden Foulk in the 200m (23.57) and 400m dashes (51.21), Jake Moreland in the 3200 (10:34.65), and the 4x200m team of Foulk, Caden Snapp, Sechrest and Dillon Jones (1:33.08).

In field events, Carter Kuhn won the pole vault, clearing 11 feet, 6 inches, and Ayden Clary tossed the discus 140 feet, 10 inches.

Oliver Grandstaff and Brenden Murray were second and third in the 3200, Snapp third in the 200 and second in the 100, and the 4×800 relay team of Grandstaff, Landon Gerwels, Will Myers and Moreland was second.

Kuhn was tied for third in high jump, Jeffrey Smith second in pole vault and Clary got third in shot put.

For Ben Logan, those taking first place were Collin Powell in the long jump (20-1 1/2) and three relay teams. It was  Eric Hughes, Gavin Jordan, Owen Jordan and Tyler Shoopman in the 4×800 (8:46.34); Powell, Wyatt Predmore, Alex Hassel and Everett Clapsaddle in the 4×100 (45.09); and Davis Matthews, Hughes, Shoopman and Dylan Vance in the 4×400 (3.37.91).

Vance placed second in the 200 and 400, Shoopman was third in the 800, Hughes was third in the 1600, and Powell was third in the 100, and Cooper Buck was third in the 110 hurdles.

Taking second in the 4×200 were Powell, Matthews, Clapsaddle, and Vance, while the 4×400 team of Cooper Buck, Owen Jordan, Jerrik Stephens and Johnathon Belkman was third.

Roman Maxwell was third in long jump, Diesel Baughman second in the high jump, and Gus Bibart third in discus.

Indian Lake’s Gavin Henry won the 110m hurdles (15.18).

The 4×400 relay of Noah Shirk, Drake Cosby, Carson Clary and Bryan Mohler was second. 

Shirk was second in the 110m hurdles and third in the 300. Henry was second in the 300 hurdles and Mohler was third in the 400 dash.

In the 4×100, Henry, Quest Clay, Shirk and Cosby were second, with Ke’shawn Blackwell, Collin Bendler, Wyatt Whitsett and JJ Shirk third. Running third in the 4×200 were Cosby, Cameron Freyhof, Jacob Freyhof and Silas Holbrook, with the 4×800 combo of Aidan Stinebaugh, Cason Lacher, Clary and Mohler also third.

Clay was second in the long jump, Henry tied for third in high jump, Will Faler was third in pole vault, Christopher Timms placed second in shot put.

Riverside’s Travis Brooks won the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 6 inches and was second in discus.

Calvary Christian’s John Gaertner took first place in the high jump at 5-feet-8 and finished second in both the 800m and 1600m runs.

GIRLS

Grabbing first place for the Lady Chieftains were Callie Shumaker in the 100m hurdles (15.92) and 300 hurdles (46.67), Ava Reeves in the 100m dash (12.07), Grace Brown in the 1600 (5:30.25) and 800 (2:31.21), Cece Reier in the 3200 (13:35.92), as well as the 4×800 relay of Hannah Wilson, Kailynn Newman, Kaeleigh Flora and Ximena Marquez (10:58.15); and the 4×200 relay of Jillian Ullom, Rylie Reames, Shumaker and  Reeves (1:48.79).

In the field events, Reeves won the long jump (17-5), Kelsie Snapp was first in shot put (39-0) and discus (126-2).

Finishing in third place were Shawna Burnell in both the 100 dash and 300 hurdles, Newman in the 1600, Ullom in the 200 and 400, Flora in the 800, and Reames in the high jump. 

Elyncia Allen, Burnell, Ryann Gatchel, and Vanessa Frederick were second in the 4×100.

For Ben Logan, the 4×100 team of Kate Gulick, Nahla Payne, Scarlett Elliott and Storm LeVan won with a time of 54.82 seconds. Abby Vance was first in the 400 (1:04.79).

Gulick was second in the 100m and 300m hurdles, Ella Chamberlin second in the 400, Vance second in the 200. In the 3200, Estella Wenger was second and Gwendolyn Smith third.

The 4×200 combo of Mercedes Marcinko, Scarlett Elliott, Nora Elliott and LeVan was second, and the 4×800 team of Lexi Archer, Smith, Wenger and Hadley Boysel was third. Running third in the 4×100 were Marcinko, Bailey Lewis, Addison Anderson and Aleah France.

In the 4×400, the team of Archer, Gulick, Nora Elliott and Vance were second, with Montana Coleman, Lucy Johns, Ella Chamberlin and Lauren Kennedy third.

In field events, Scarlett Elliott (9-6) was first in the pole vault, with Penelope Elliott second and Nora Elliott tied for third. Vance was third in the long jump and Kyla Godwin third in discus.

Addison Beck of the Lady Lakers was first in the 200m dash (27.83) and the 4×400 team of Myiah Ankrom, Cameron Finfrock, Ava Faler and Reagan Rash won in a time of 4:33.27.

Beck was second in the 100 dash, while Evie Wagner was second in the 1600, and Reagan Rash second in the 800,

Alicia Brielmaier, Haley Metzger, Rash and Wagner were second in the 4×800, while Maddie Leiss-Breakey, Finfrock, Hailey Prater and Piper Warnecke took third in the 4×200.

Faler won the high jump at 4-feet-10, while Beck was second in long jump and third in high jump. Faler also tied for third in pole vault. Terra Beltz was second and Maddie Miller third in shot put, and Miller was second in discus.

Calvary Christian’s Makarios Kariuki finished third in the 100m hurdles.

Riverside’s top finishers were Addison Shoe (4th, 200); Kathryn Corwin (5th, 100); Kenna Johnson (5th, long jump); Valerie Knight (5th, shot put), and the 4×100 relay of Shaye McGill, Shoe, Abi Strayer and Johnson, who were fifth.
