A variety of boat-themed floats and interactive parade entries sailed through downtown Russells Point Thursday night, Oct. 2, for Indian Lake’s homecoming parade, where the theme was “Sink the Braves” in anticipation the football game against Springfield Shawnee. ILHS Homecoming Queen Riley Ross and King Ke’Shawn Blackwell and their court led the festivities. The parade concluded at the Gathering Grounds for a community pep rally, filled with games, prizes and Laker spirit.
The winners of the float/decorating contests were: Class: Most Spirit — Sophomore (2028); Best use of Theme — Juniors (2027); and Best Overall — Seniors (2026); Clubs/Sports: Most spirit: Little Laker Cheer; Best use of theme: HS Cheer; Best overall: MS Football; Business winner: Jac and Do’s Pizza.
The homecoming game is Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. in Laker Stadium. The parade of cars and presentation of the king, queen and their court will begin at 6:20 p.m. prior to kickoff.
The 2025 Homecoming Dance is set for Oct. 4, in the Indian Lake Elementary School gymnasium from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
