The 39th annual Band Spectacular was a huge success at Bellefontaine High School on Saturday night, Sept. 13.
Bellefontaine and 11 other area bands entertained a large crowd at AcuSport Stadium.
The Band Spectacular started as a band competition, then evolved into a fun performance opportunity for area bands.
A variety of diverse music and styles were featured in each band’s performance.
Bands from Riverside, Jackson Center, Lehman, Triad, Waynesfield-Goshen, North Union, Urbana, Lincolnview, Graham, Benjamin Logan, Jonathan Alder and Bellefontaine participated.

This year, the “Pride of the Tribe” prepared two different halftime shows. Both of them were performed at the Band Spectacular. BHS opened the event with “Band on Broadway,” featuring music from Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, and American Idiot (the Green Day musical). Bellefontaine concluded the evening with “15 Minutes of Fame” showcasing music by Rick Astley, Aqua, LMFAO, and Tommy Tutone.
Bellefontaine Band Director Ken Hoffman said the Band Spectacular was “a tremendous success. We welcomed 11 bands from Logan County and beyond, representing many different styles and song selections. I am very proud of their hard work and long hours as we build a bright future for bands in Bellefontaine.”
