Showmanship on both ends of the spectrum, from novice to experienced, fared well for competitors in the Logan County Junior Fair Market Lamb Show Wednesday night, July 9, in a packed out show arena of supporters.
Veteran showman Chloe Borgerding returned this year to receive her second consecutive grand champion award for her market lamb, after also achieving the honor in the 2024 contest.
This year, the Indian Lake High School sophomore said she knew her top lamb, “Thumper” was pretty special, but she was very happy and surprised at her win.
“I’m feeling really great right now. I didn’t expect this,” the 15-year-old said after the show. She has been showing sheep for the past seven to eight years.
“Thumper turned into almost a dog at our house,” Chloe said with a laugh, noting the special bond she has with the lamb after their shared time together.

Also winning a grand champion award in the contest was new showman Avani Ricketts, a Benjamin Logan High School freshman. She received the top accolades for her pen of two market lambs.
“I was nervous at first with this being my first year, but I’m so happy with how the night went,” said Avani, who also received the fifth overall market lamb award.
Reserve grand champion market lamb went to 2025 Indian Lake High School/Ohio Hi-Point Career Center graduate Cy Cummins, who said he enjoys showing so much that he plans to be back next summer as a competitor, in his last eligible year for the Junior Fair contest.
Shortly after the fair’s conclusion, Cy noted that he begins his new position at KAP Welding and Millright in West Mansfield.

His sister, Joslyn Cummins, received the reserve grand champion award for her pen of two market lambs and the third overall market lamb. She is an incoming ILHS/OHPCC senior, who said she wants to obtain her STNA license.
No matter how exhibitors fared in Wednesday night’s tight competition, judge Tracy Dendinger from Washington Court House encouraged participants to keep themselves involved in the fair and agriculture activities.
“This is a tough game,” said the longtime agriculture educator and educational consultant. “You’re learning so many skills that can be applied to many different areas of life, even outside of the ring.”
