A pair of Indian Lake High School students was chosen to attend Buckeye Boys State at Miami University.
Noah Shirk, a son of Andy and Sarah Shirk of Huntsville, and Silas Holbrook, a son of Patsy Conroy of Lakeview, will attend June 8-15.
Their trip to Buckeye Boys’ State is sponsored by the Huntsville American Legion Post 381.

Participants must meet several qualifications. Candidates must be juniors in high school, interested in government and current events and have an above average scholastic standing. The young men must also demonstrate high moral character, possess strong leadership skills and have a desire for learning.

The purpose of Buckeye Boys’ State is to provide hands-on experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government. At Buckeye Boys’ State, young men learn about city, county and state government through a non-partisan objective education approach.
