Serious injuries reported in semi-car crash

Three people were taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries, after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday, May 27, on U.S. Route 68 at State Route 273. 

Ashley Young, 34, of Kenton, was driving a westbound 2018 Hyundai Elantra on S.R. 273 about 5:45 p.m. when she failed to stop at the intersection, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report. The Elantra then traveled into the intersection and struck a 2022 Volvo semi tractor-trailer traveling southbound on U.S. 68. 

Young sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported by Rushcreek EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital. Two female passengers in Young’s car — ages 4 and 14 —possible injuries and minor injuries, respectively, and each was taken by BMRT squad to MRH. 

The semi’s driver, Eric  Thompson, 41, also of Kenton, was reportedly not injured. 

The car was towed from the scene with disabling damage. The semi had functional damage. 

Young was cited for a stop sign violation. 

All vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
