The Benjamin Logan Quiz Bowl team represented their school on the national level at the 2025 NAQT Small School National Championship Tournament at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare Chicago from April 25–27.

The team, in the Traditional Public Schools Division, was captained by Tristan Sheets, who was joined by Hunter Andrix, Emily LeVan, Kameron Lockwood, Liam Sweeney and Junah Tingley. The team was coached by Michael Kettler.

Benjamin Logan was one of 18 Ohio teams competing at the national championship. The Raiders finished 21st overall out of 88 teams from 20 states, advancing to the playoff rounds after achieving a strong day one record of 7-3.

Notably, the team had a narrow game against the tournament’s eventual overall winner, highlighting their competitive spirit and skill. In the playoff rounds, Benjamin Logan faced tough matchups against Macomb, Ill., and Gwinn, Mich., to close out the tournament.

Adding to the celebration, senior Tristan Sheets delivered an outstanding individual performance, correctly answering 90 tossup questions in the preliminary rounds and placing seventh out of 520 competitors in overall points. His achievement earned him the prestigious title of NAQT Traditional Public All-Star for the weekend.

Tristan’s accomplishments don’t stop there — he is now officially the all-time points leader in Benjamin Logan Quiz Bowl history, setting a remarkable legacy for future Raiders to follow.

Quiz bowl is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity for teams of four students. Quiz bowl teams use buzzers to answer questions about science, math, history, literature, mythology, geography, social science, current events, sports and popular culture.

The matches feature a blend of individual competition and team collaboration, since no individual player is likely to be an expert in all subject areas. Participation in quiz bowl both reinforces lessons from the classroom and encourages players to develop new intellectual interests.

“Congratulations to all the team members and Coach Kettler for an incredible tournament run and for proudly representing Benjamin Logan on the national stage,” district officials said.
