Ben Logan Schools: New logo unveiled

A new school logo and branding campaign was unveiled during the Benjamin Logan Board of Education meeting on Monday, Nov. 18. The board approved the Benjamin Logan Brand Standards Guide, completing a logo modernization project that began in September 2024. The initiative incorporated input from 480 stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, alumni, and community members, aiming to unify the district’s identity with a fresh, modern design.

In other business, the board approved free student admission to athletic events for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. Students must obtain tickets through Hometown Ticketing, and younger students (6th grade and below) must be accompanied by an adult.

The board also celebrated Seniors of the Month, recognizing November honorees Paityn Anspach and Hunter Andrix for their accomplishments.

Superintendent John Scheu congratulated the Indian Lake and West Liberty football teams on their playoff runs, noting that Benjamin Logan submitted a bid to host a playoff game, though Piqua was ultimately selected.

He also highlighted upcoming events, including substitute teacher recognition on Nov. 22 and a “Let’s Talk School” session on Dec. 5 at Zanesfield Heritage Hall, with pizza provided by Firehouse Pizza.

Treasurer Leah Baker presented the district’s October financial report, noting a $295 grant from Google.org for the Middle School FIRST Team Registration. The board approved the five-year forecast, which included discussions about preschool programming.

The board held a first reading of Policy Update 43.1 and accepted a $2,000 donation from the Mental Health Drug/Alcohol Service Board to purchase tickets for school events.

The board approved the ESC substitute list at $115 per day and several supplemental contracts, including Sage Caughenbaugh as High School Student Council Advisor and Kerri Sullivan and Deb Ward as volunteer bowling coaches.

Additional personnel actions included:

Approving Kandie Brown’s deduct days after exhausting her leave.
Hiring Jaycee Murray as a transportation substitute and Nikki King as a substitute education assistant.
Approving early graduation for Isabella Cavallini in January 2025, with her diploma to be awarded in May.
Michael Dove resigned as High School Musical Director, and Kristen Hale’s supplemental contract as JV Basketball Cheer Coach was terminated.

The board approved overnight trips for student activities, including FFA events and wrestling tournaments through the 2024-2025 school year. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16
