Two people were taken to Mary Rutan Hospital Sunday morning, July 27 after a car struck a utility  pole at county roads 21 and 58.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash about 7:15 a.m.

The car’s driver lost contol of the vehicle and struck the pole traveling at highway speeds, according to preliminary reports from the scene.

The driver and a passenger in the car reportedly each sustained suspected minor injuries. They were transported by separate Indian Lake EMS squads to the hospital.

Maplewood firefighters and an Indian Lake EMS Echo unit also assisted at the scene.

Damage to the vehicle was heavy.

The Logan County Electric Cooperative temporarily shut off service to a large number of its members to repair equipment damaged by the crash, according to a post on the utility provider’s Facebook page.
