UPDATE: A 37-year-old Bryan woman involved in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday, June 4, in Huntsville has passed away.

Ashley Thomas succumbed to injuries she sustained Saturday, June 7, at Grant Medical in Columbus, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

She was initially transported by squad to Mary Rutan Hospital, and then by medical helicopter to the hospital.

Troopers report Ephantus Osoro, 33, of Chillicothe, also sustained serious injuries in the crash on Lima Street (S.R. 117) just north of County Road 222. Osoro was transported by MedFlight helicopter to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

A third driver, Taylor Stanchin, 28, Leo, Ind., reportedly was operating a southbound Tesla Model 3 car on Lima Street about 8:45 a.m. Osoro’s southbound 2023 Volkswagen Taos failed to leave assured clear distance ahead and struck the rear of the Tesla, troopers said.

The Volkswagen then went left of center and struck Thomas’  northbound 2024 Kia Soul head-on.

Stanchin did not report any injuries.

Troopers were assisted by Huntsville Fire Department, Indian Lake EMS, Bellefontaine Fire Department, Richland Township Fire Department, a BMRT squad and two medical helicopters.

A motorist traveling in a northbound vehicle on S.R. 117 who witnessed a portion of the incident said he saw the Volkswagen go airborne during the crash and travel “end-over-end” before coming to rest.

Traffic was delayed in the area for about two hours.

This is the second fatal crash in Logan County this year.
