A passenger was airlifted with serious injuries after a suspected alcohol-related one-vehicle crash early Friday, Feb. 14 on County Road 130 at County Road 13.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report 36-year-old Kylea Page, of Bellefontaine, was trapped inside the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. She was freed with mechanical assistance and transported by MedFlight helicopter to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Page, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, struck the car’s windshield during the crash. She was complaining of severe leg pain at the scene, reports noted.

The vehicle’s driver, Jackie A. Taylor, 30, of Bellefontaine, sustained minor injuries and was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for evaluation.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:25 a.m. Feb. 14 as a 2013 Nissan Altima traveling southbound on CR 130 went off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Taylor told deputies she swerved to miss a deer prior to the crash.

Deputies observed indicators of alcohol impairment while speaking with Taylor at the scene. Taylor admitted to consuming “two beers” at a Bellefontaine bar prior to the crash, and deputies conducted field sobriety testing, noting multiple indicators consistent with impairment.

Taylor later consented to a blood draw at Mary Rutan Hospital for submission to the Ohio State Highway Patrol crime lab. Results were pending at the time of the report.

Taylor was cited for failure to maintain control and operating a vehicle under the influence, and was issued a mandatory court appearance scheduled for Feb. 18.

The driver was reportedly wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Damage to the car was disabling and it was removed from the scene by Tops Towing.
