Woman charged with theft from a protected class

A Lakeview woman has been charged with felony counts of theft from a protected class and identity fraud relating to thefts reported by an 80-year-old victim and her family.

Jacklyn E. Miller, 41, of County Road 87, was placed under arrest Wednesday, March 29, following several weeks of investigation by deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. An additional charge of misuse of credit cards also has been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office.

March 11, deputies spoke with the victim’s family relating to suspected fraudulent charges they had observed on the victim’s credit card statement.

Deputies received the list of suspected fraudulent charges at various area business, including several stores in Lima, Wapakoneta and Anna.

Deputies first spoke with a manager at the Dollar General in Russells Point and reviewed video footage from the store, which showed defendant in the business on the day listed on the credit card statement.

In addition, deputies spoke with a manager at Walmart in Wapakoneta, to request video footage, and also the Shoe Carnival in Lima, which was able to pull counter video.

Deputies also spoke to representatives at a McDonald’s in Lima, Lee’s Chicken in Lima and a gas station in Anna related to the credit card transactions.

Wednesday, Miller was placed under arrest at her workplace and was transported to the Logan County Jail.
