The Bellefontaine City School District Board of Education unanimously approved two appointments during a special meeting held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 18, naming Karen Wilson to the Board of Education and Aaron Garver to the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District Board of Trustees.
Wilson was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Rick Reed, who resigned from the board in January after accepting the position of superintendent of the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District. Her term will run through December 2027.

Wilson received the next highest number of votes in the November 2025 school board election, and board members said her appointment reflects the will of local voters. The board also cited her experience and ability to contribute immediately as the district works to address a funding shortfall tied to reductions in state support for Ohio public schools.
Wilson previously served on the BCS Board of Education for about five and a half years and narrowly missed re-election in the November general election, losing one of two available seats by just 67 votes.
This marks Wilson’s third appointment to the BCS board. She was first appointed in 2020 and again in January 2022.
During the same meeting, the board unanimously appointed Garver to the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District Board of Trustees. Garver will complete the unexpired term of Joliece Reed, who resigned following her husband’s appointment as recreation district superintendent after 14 years of service on the recreation district board. Garver’s term runs through December 2026.
Board members thanked both Wilson and Garver for their willingness to serve the schools and the community.
Garver is a Bellefontaine High School technology education teacher with about 24 years of experience in the district. A Bellefontaine graduate, he was recognized by BCS as a “Tribe Member of the Week” last September for his dedication to students, school safety and community involvement.
Wilson and her husband, Caleb, operate a family farm, where she assists with accounting and bookkeeping. The couple has three children, ages 11, 14 and 16, who attend BCS.
Wilson is also the sister of Susan Manchester, who represents Ohio’s 12th Senate District. The district covers all but a northwest portion of Logan County.
