Two Logan County residents were taken to area hospitals following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon, June 5, on U.S. Route 33 between State Route 287 and Township Road 157.

Sarah Van Dyke, 23, of Zanesfield, and Aaron Roy, 20, of Bellefontaine, each sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals by Perry Township Fire and EMS and Allen Township EMS, respectively, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Van Dyke was driving a 2013 Honda Civic westbound on U.S. 33 about 4 p.m. when she reportedly lost control, traveled through the median and into the eastbound lanes. The Honda was then struck by an eastbound 2007 Nissan Altima operated by Roy, which caused it to overturn.

Van Dyke was trapped in her car until first responders arrived to extricate her from it, according to witnesses at the scene.

Troopers were also assisted by Dad’s Towing and Ace’s High Towing.

Alcohol is not suspected a a factor in the crash, troopers said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
