Two BCS classified employees set for retirement

Bellefontaine City Schools Board of Education members handled personnel items and honored four outstanding seniors at their Monday evening meeting in the High School Sloan Distance Learning Center. 

The board accepted the retirement resignations of longtime food service supervisor Winnie Jacks and food service worker Tammy Cooper, effective June 30 and June 1, respectively. 

Superintendent Brad Hall recognized the January and February Seniors of the Month. Blaine Mitchell and Kate Myers were honored for January, and Jaylen Henry and Brianne Sechrest are Feburary’s honorees.

Blaine and Kate will continue their education at Bowling Green State University. Jaylen will study at The Ohio State University, and Brianne will attend Bluffton University.

Each student received an achievement pin and a $15 gift card to Ron’s Pizza.

In personnel matters, the board approved the following hires: Jack Clement, substitute teacher; and Trinity Floyd, Nicole Fulkerson and Azalia Hawkey, educational aides. 

Members also accepted the following resignations:  Jake Kennedy, Marketing/DECA teacher; Lisa Plank, Title/IDEA teacher; Sharon Deardorff and Pamela Lindsey, food service workers; and Debrah Whitsett, educational aide. 

In other action, the board: 

• extended the following supplemental contracts:  Nathan Arbogast, Middle School Girls Track Assistant Coach; Katie Buffkin – High School Softball Head Coach; Eric Fatzinger – Middle School Boys Track Head Coach; Matt Gallaway – Middle School Boys Track Assistant Coach; Steve Henry – Middle School Girls Track Head Coach; Russ Hogue – High School Baseball Head Coach; Mike Mosbarger – High School Baseball Assistant Coach; Zoe Price, Jim Robinson, Stacey Wilson and Larry Young – High School Track Assistant Coaches; Meredith Richters – Percussion Advisor;  Nate Smith – High School Baseball Assistant Coach; and Doug Walters – High School Softball Assistant Coach; 

• approved the following volunteer coaches: Damon Dixon and Hunter Pool, High School Wrestling; Jake Boyd, Jeff Morrison, Ric Prine and Chris Stricker – High School Softball; and D’Ante St. Clair – High School Baseball; 

• approved BHS Service Learning as a Student Managed Group.

• approved the 2025-26 Preschool Handbook and Forms.

The board also approved a resolution for membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Finally, the board met in executive session to discuss mid-year goals with Superintendent Hall and Treasurer Josh Wasson.

The next board meeting is 6:30 p.m. March 10 in the Distance Learning Center.
