Raniyah Brown, 19, and Eric Henry, 20, both of Bellefontaine, were arrested Monday, Feb. 3, on charges of violating a civil protection order and assault, respectively, following a report of a fight at Oakland Square Park.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the park around 5:30 p.m. on a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers found the involved parties separated in vehicles on north Elm Street.

The victims had reportedly driven to the park to drop off a friend when they were followed by Brown in a separate vehicle. The victims have active civil protection orders against Brown, requiring her to remain at least 500 feet away at all times.

Brown reportedly parked directly behind the victims’ vehicle and exited the car alongside Henry.

A verbal argument ensued, and Henry charged at one of the victims and punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground. The second victim’s fiancé intervened, leading to a scuffle with Henry, officers report.

Bellefontaine EMS was called to the scene to treat injuries. The first victim sustained a swollen eye and a bleeding, busted lip.

Henry was arrested for assault and transported to the Logan County Jail. Brown was taken into custody for violating the protection orders and was also transported to jail.
