Traffic control details released for Light Up the Lake Spectacular

287

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Police Department, and the Russells Point Police Department will be combining efforts throughout the Indian Lake Region for traffic control following the 2025 Light Up the Lake Spectacular at 10 p.m. Saturday evening, July 5.

The launch site will remain at the south bank of Indian Lake between Township Road 239 and the west corporation limit of the Village of Russells Point.

The launch site will include the Midway parking lot on State Route 366, including ODNR Property and the bike path east to Paradise Point.

Accordingly, specific changes had to be made to allow for safety and security of the launch site:

  • A portion of the bike path and adjacent grass areas will be fenced off to provide the required safety zone.
  • A larger safety zone area marked with buoys will extend out from the south shore into the open water to provide for the required safety zone.
  • No parking will be allowed between the Midway parking lot and east of Township Road 239 and just west of the Russells Point corporation limit.
  • Paradise Island (across from Indian Head Roadhouse) will be closed to new traffic at 9 p.m. Cars will be permitted to leave the area.
  • Long-term road closure on State Route 366 between Township Road 239 and Indian Head Roadhouse.
  • Restricted travel

Immediately following the fireworks, motorists should prepare as follows:

  • State Route 366 at State Route 235 will be shut down at 10 p.m. to all vehicle traffic.
  • All State Route 366 traffic between State Route 235 and Township Road 239 will exit the area eastbound on State Route 366 to Township Road 239. From Township Road 239, traffic will be diverted east or west bound on U.S. Route 33.
  • The following access points from US 33 to Main Street will be closed only as long as necessary to quickly move both incoming and outgoing traffic at the conclusion of the Fireworks: Sunnyside Avenue (The Donut Shop); Clermont Street (Golf Cart World); Lincoln Boulevard (The Wedge); and State Route 708 (Huntington Bank).
  • The traffic lights along U.S. 33 at the State Route 708 and Township Road 239 intersections will be set to flash yellow or otherwise controlled to move traffic as efficiently as possible.
  • Drivers can gain access to U.S. 33 from roadways east of Russells Point from County Roads 94 on toward Huntsville. (Intersections through Russells Point are closed due to the fact they can only handle 1-2 vehicles before obstructing traffic flow.)
  • Oldfield Beach traffic will be a right turn only following the fireworks.
  • Motorists traveling south (westward) near Van Horn’s Curve on S.R. 235 will be required to continue straight onto S.R. 366 to U.S. 33.
  • Motorists traveling north on S.R. 235 will be required to continue north on S.R. 235. There will be no left turns allowed off of S.R. 235
  • Motorists traveling south on SR 235 will have to turn east or west on to U.S. 33. Motorists will not have access to Lakeview from S.R. 235 south or from U.S. 33. Motorists coming out of Lakeview will not be able to access U.S. 33 at this intersection. Please help the law enforcement officers at the intersections by using your turn signals to let them know what direction you would like to go.
