A child died Saturday after a reported drowning in a small pond on his grandfather’s property.
Ruben Moody, 20 months, was found approximately 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 4, lying face down in his grandparent’s koi pond at 2765 County Road 21, DeGraff, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports. The incident is a “tragic accident,” Sheriff Randy Dodds said, adding that no criminal charges have been filed as a result of the child’s death.
The child reportedly was found by his grandfather Steve Moody, who owns the property. The boy’s parents are Adam and Paige Moody.
A Bellefontaine squad transported the boy to Mary Rutan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Logan County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to review the report.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 10, at the Quincy Fire Department, 119 Main Street in Quincy. Immediately following the visitation, there will be a procession to Huntsville Cemetery, where Pastor Brandon Storm will officiate a graveside service.
