Two men were arrested shortly before 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, after leading officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department on a brief foot pursuit.

Roger Huffman, 60, and Seth Wagner, 32, both of Rushsylvania, were each charged with obstructing official business and criminal trespass. Huffman was also arrested on an active warrant for violating his community control.

An officer on patrol in the area of Allison and Dakota roads observed a suspicious black Chevy pickup that reportedly made an abrupt turn upon spotting the officer’s cruiser. The officer circled around and located the vehicle at a residence in the 700 block of Iroquois Road after it pulled into a driveway. Two men, later identified as the suspects, reportedly exited the truck, walked toward the property and then fled on foot when the officer approached.

Additional officers and deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded. Huffman was apprehended near north Park and Irving avenues. Wagner was taken into custody near Palmer Road.

The homeowner confirmed that neither man had permission to be on the property and wished to pursue charges. The vehicle was impounded by Tanner’s Towing, and both suspects were transported to the Logan County Jail without incident.

Officers found no signs of forced entry at the residence but observed footprints in the snow leading across the property.
