A Richwood woman was issued a summons for endangering children after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to 883 E. Sandusky Ave., Apt. 309, Wednesday, Aug. 6, at about 8:42 a.m. on the report of a three-year-old child wandering outside the apartment unsupervised by an adult.
Witnesses report that the toddler was playing in the breezeway outside the apartment building and further reported that they could hear a baby crying inside the apartment since about 6 a.m.
The witnesses were able to enter the apartment where they found a crying infant, but did not locate any adults. The neighbors removed the baby from the apartment where they changed the infant’s diaper and fed the baby while they were alerting police.
Officers knocked on Apartment 309’s door multiple times without receiving an answer, but found the front door open and entered the residence. Finding the bedroom door locked and again receiving no response from inside, building maintenance was contacted and a key was obtained to unlock the bedroom door.
At this time, officers reported that they found Rachel Kay Denise Parker, 20, of Ridgeway, asleep in the bedroom with another named individual. Officers had difficulty rousing both adults and, according to the report, Parker did not ask about the whereabouts of her baby until after approximately 10 minutes of questioning.
Logan County Children’s Services was contacted and a caseworker arrived on the scene to collect information for the report, which included the officers’ and witnesses’ statements and was forwarded to Children Services for further investigation.
Officers then issued Parker the summons and both children were returned to the custody of their mother.
There is no indication in the report that either child was injured or ill.
• Officers issued a summons to a city woman after her two-year-old child was found wandering near the intersection of S. Main St. and Patterson Ave. at about 5:26 p.m. Thursday, April 7.
Several witnesses report that the toddler was seen walking north in the 300 block south Main Stret and approached the street, this before walking onto the porch at 328 S. Main St. A passerby picked up the child and reportedly knocked on several doors in the immediate area with no response before calling 9-1-1.
Once officers arrived, the passerby and child were seated in a cruiser as officers located the child’s mother, Morgan Elizabeth Kristine Evilsizor, 27, of 328 S. Main St., at her home. Evilsizor said that she was unaware that the toddler was able to unlock and open doors to the residence and the child left the home without her knowledge.
The child was returned to their mother and Evilsizor was issued summons for endangering children with a copy of the report being forwarded to Child Protective Services.
No injuries or illnesses to any of those involved were noted in the report.
