Bellefontaine Robotics hosted top talent from the region for the Showdown at the Peak Saturday, Feb. 15, a combined Middle and High School VEX robotics competition featuring 50 teams at Bellefontaine High School.

Students from 15 different schools came together to compete in the 2024-2025 game, “High Stakes,” showing the creativity, problem-solving and communication skills of these student engineers. This event involved teams from Beavercreek, Versailles, Fairbanks, Seneca East, Ottawa Hills, Ada, Bexley, North Union, Indian Lake, Bellefontaine and additional schools  

Bellefontaine High and Middle schools represented themselves, their schools, and community with pride, taking home 8 of the 13 trophies from both competition and judged awards, their advisers report. 

Bellefontaine High School Team 9185 T, Terminator earned the tournament champion trophy as well as the top judged award, the Excellence Award. Team members  are Alex Cavanaugh, Mason Swisher, Dalton Frazier, Marek Frazier, Haydon Argabright, Graham Trittschuh and Will Gates.

Fellow BHS Team 9185 C, Carnage, earned the build Award, recognizing a team with a well built and sturdy robot that can withstand the rigorous competition conditions. Carnage is made up of students Lorenz Henry, Hayden Maus, Alex Sandoval, Cody Robb, Fletcher Roberts, Will Myers and Steven Fulmer.

Bellefontaine Middle School Team 7865B, It’s Whatever, and Team 7865F, Banana Boys, teamed up showing off their programming and driving skills, winning the tournament champion spots. 

It’s Whatever, made up of Greyson Huffman, Max Miranda, Charlie Moreland, and Chloe O’ Chocke added to their Tournament Champion Trophy with the Skills Champion, and the Excellence Award. This is the second event where they won all three of the top awards at a single competition. 

Team 7865F, Banana Boys, includes members Beau Gibson, Beckett Kessler, Jackson Lynch and Jackson Maus.

BMS Team 7865X, X Force, were tournament finalists and also won the design award, showing their skills of designing and documenting their skills and progress this season. Team X Force has team members Chandler Herne, Landon Severt and Christian Sterling. 

“This event was a massive undertaking and Bellefontaine Robotics would like to thank our sponsors and volunteers for all of their help and support this season and for this event. Our program would not be as strong or successful without all of you,” BMS Robotics Coach Jordan Reser and fellow coaches said.
